Program Overview

The Chemistry Department offers two master's degree programs: Non-Thesis Program and Thesis Program. The UMass Lowell chemistry department has an approved Non-Thesis Master of Science in Chemistry (NTMC) degree. This NTMC degree ordinarily requires 30 credits. Thesis Program Specialization is offered in biochemistry, analytical, inorganic, organic physical chemistry, and polymer science. This program provides opportunity for advanced study and research training in chemistry, both general and specialized. Provision also is made for the student to elect certain advanced subjects in related fields of mathematics, physics, and engineering.
