Pratt Institute

Program Overview

Established in 1970, Pratt s Graduate Creative Arts Therapy Department is embedded in a culture that nourishes creativity, challenges the status quo, and rewards unique perspectives. It is through this immersion that the Creative Arts Therapy Program was established. Experiential and embodied learning is the connecting platform where psychology and the arts intersect. Integrating both Art and Dance/Movement Therapy approaches allows students to become creatively engaged in the learning process. Students learn to apply art and dance/movement therapy skills in treatment with a range of populations and communities including: trauma, psychiatry, special needs children and adults, addiction and recovery, medical rehabilitation, Child Life, the homeless, abuse, eating disorders, prevention/wellness, and End of Life treatment.
