Program Overview

Bioinformatics is a purely multidisciplinary scientific approach that is found at the interface between several traditional scientific disciplines, such as Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. The important advances registered in computer technology allow access to sophisticated computer tools to organize, analyze and distribute the huge amount of biological and biochemical information generated by the new high performance technologies. The most popular fields of this discipline have been the analysis and interpretation of data that include nucleotide and amino acid sequences, protein domains and protein structure, transcriptomics and expression, cell population studies, structural studies of new molecules with pharmacological activity.
