Program Overview

In music (including composition and performance), a PhD thesis may take the form of performance and/or corpus of creative work plus a dissertation that aims to address, elucidate and contextualise the work. The PhD requires a minimum of three years full-time study (six years part-time). PhD graduate researchers become part of an active research culture which includes school based seminars, Faculty research symposia and opportunities for funding to attend national and international conferences, symposia, performances, exhibitions, and other events at which they present research or creative work.

A four - year bachelor degree in a relevant discipline which includes a substantial research component equivalent to at least 25% of one year of full-time study and have achieved a minimum weighted average of 75% in the final year subjects or (University of Melbourne) equivalent; A qualification and professional experience considered to be equivalent; A research proposal, A folio plan, Referee reports, The endorsement of a prospective supervisor, Test scores: TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, CAE
