Program Overview

Rotman Finance offers top-tier training from some of the world's leading experts in fields such as risk management, corporate governance, delegated asset management, and behavioural finance. Students are assigned faculty mentors upon admission and work closely with faculty throughout the program. We train prospective scholars to become highly skilled and innovative researchers and teachers.The main components for the successful completion of the program are:Required Courses,Research Project Comprehensive Examinations,Dissertation.A typical program of study takes four to five years. The bulk of the course requirements as well as the research project are completed during the first two years. The comprehensive examination is taken at the end of the summer of the second year. The last two to three years of the program are focused on the thesis research.

Additional Information & Requirements

Minimum academic requirements for admission to the Rotman PhD Program include:A master's degree or equivalent from a recognized university, in which the student received an average grade equivalent to a University of Toronto B+ or better. OR In some cases, a four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized university, in which the student received an average grade equivalent to a University of Toronto A- or better will be eligible.
