Rotman School of Management History                                        

Rotman School of Management also known as Joseph L. Rotman School of Management and Rotman is a Canadian business school part of the University of Toronto located in Toronto, Canada. The school was established as Institute of Business Administration in 1950 and was renamed to Faculty of Management Studies in 1972, It adopted its present name in 1997 following a donation from Joseph L. Rotman and currently enrols over 3300 students.

Rotman School of Management primarily offers graduate programs but it does offer an undergraduate degree in Commerce. At the graduate level, the school offers a Full-time MBA, Joint MBA, Morning MBA, Evening MBA, and a One-year Executive MBA programs.

Rotman School of Management also offers Global Executive MBA, Global Executive MBA for Healthcare and Life Sciences, Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting, Master of Management Analytics, Master of Finance, Master of Financial Risk Management, and a PhD program in Management.

Rotman School of Management is based on University of Toronto’s St. George campus located in the city of Toronto, Canada. The school is centrally located and is close to public transportation and amenities such as shops, restaurants, cafeterias, and bars. The school also inaugurated a new $91 Million building which doubled the available space to cater to growing research and education needs.

Rotman School of Management is consistently ranked the best business school in Canada by a number of publications and league tables. The school was ranked 1st in Canada by the QS Global MBA Rankings in 2020 and 85th globally by the Financial Times Global MBA rankings.

Rotman School of Management is also ranked 1st in Canada and 17th globally for its Executive MBA program by Financial Times Executive MBA Rankings. The school is also ranked 43rd globally and 1st in Canada by the MBA Rankings published by Business Insider.

Rotman School of Management has stringent admission policies making it a highly selective institution with an acceptance rate of just 16.6%. The school also offers a number of overseas and International immersion programs at partner universities abroad including a Doctor of Business Administration joint degree with Henley Business School of University of Reading in United Kingdom.

Rotman School of Management also awards generous merit based scholarships and grants to assist students with tuition fee. The school’s PhD in Management is a fully funded program which covers the student’s tuition fee and living expenses in addition to research expenditures and return airfares to home country.
