Program Overview

This program offers a thorough and multidisciplinary training in all areas of ancient studies. Attendance at research groups, participation in numerous seminars and conferences and the writing of the thesis aim at training autonomous, curious, critical and humanistic researchers. Focusing on interdisciplinarity, this program integrates ancient Christianity, patristics, gnosis, Manichaeism and ancient philosophy into the traditional sectors of ancient studies. Universit Laval is the only institution in North America that offers complete master's and doctoral programs in French-language studies. The thesis aims to develop the ability to conduct large-scale research independently. To do this, you will benefit from personalized support and will have access to research integration activities.
