Program Overview

Biology is at the heart of the main problems that the societies of tomorrow will have to face and solve: climate change, biodiversity conservation, natural resource management, biotechnology development, etc. You will be trained to conduct cutting-edge research using a multidisciplinary approach to help address these many challenges. Essentially through the preparation of a PhD thesis under the direction of a professor from the Department of Biology, this program will provide you with the ability to autonomously conduct a program of original and large-scale research that contributes significantly to the advancement of science. The research activities are carried out in collaboration with various organizations outside the Department of Biology: other departments or centers of the Research University or departments of Quebec or Canada, some of whom are associate professors at Universit Laval and authorized to co-direct theses and memoirs.
