PhD In Biophotonics

4 Years On Campus Phd Program

Laval University

Program Overview

This transdisciplinary field is physics (optics, photonics), chemistry (spectroscopy, chromophores, nanomaterials), biology, biochemistry, medicine (DNA, proteins, cells, tissues, organisms), engineering (instrumentation) and ethics (in medicine, biology, environment and research). Biophotonics research is carried out in several faculties, departments and research centers of Laval University. Thus, the graduate programs in biophotonics are not attached to a single department, but rather are managed by the Faculty of Science and Engineering, in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine. More than thirty professors from Laval University, who are part of these two faculties, as well as researchers from the National Optics Institute, can co-direct research projects in biophotonics.
