UCalgary's sociology program prepares globally competitive graduates with the support of one of Canada's top rated research-oriented departments. Our graduate programs ground learning in core knowledge of classical and contemporary social theories, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and supplement this fundamental study with specialized courses of interest. Recent research topics include social control and delinquency; transformation of the tattoo subculture; corporate relocation; family caregivers; political alienation and behavior in Western Canada; and chronic illness and social support. Additional Information & Requirements

Demonstrated competence in sociological theory, social methodology, and social statistics, in addition to a substantive interest, (GPA) in the final two years of study of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 point system, TOEFL iBT of 86 with no section less than 20, IELTS of 6.5 with no section less than 6.0 (Academic version), MELAB score of 80 or higher, PTE score of 59, or higher (Academic version), 2 Reference letters , A written statement of intent
