Founded in 1966, the University Of Calgary is a public research university located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The university has five campuses; four of them are located in Alberta and one campus is located in Qatar. The University of Calgary also operates 50 research institutes and centres.
The university comprises of various schools and faculties: School of Medicine; Faculty of Arts; Faculty of Environmental Design; Faculty of Graduate Studies; Faculty of Kinesiology; Faculty of Law; Faculty of Nursing; Faculty of Science; Faculty of Social Work; Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; Haskayne School of Business; School of Engineering; and School of Education. Being in Calgary, with Canada's highest concentration of engineers and geoscientists, the university maintains close ties to the petroleum and Geoscience industry through the Department of Geosciences and the School of Engineering while also maintaining a history of environmental research.
