Program Overview

Since 2003,the School of Public Health of the Faculty of Medicine,Universidad de Chile,offers this doctoral program. Its creation and realization is the result of the integration of various units of the University of Chile and the participation of prestigious international institutions,highlighting the School of Public Health of the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill,USA) and the School National Public Health Foundation Oswaldo Cruz Institute (Rio de Janeiro,Brazil).The program is accredited by the National Accreditation Commission and has had two MECESUP projects,a program aimed at improving the quality of Postgraduate teaching. Both conditions allow students to apply for scholarships for their exclusive dedication to the Program.The objective is to train graduates at the highest level to assume leadership in research,teaching,policymaking in public health,in the academic and decision-making fields of health institutions in Chile and other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.The doctorate is aimed at professionals in disciplines of health sciences,social sciences or related areas interested in developing skills for research and policy making in public health.
