PhD Mathematical Modeling

The objective of the Doctorate in Engineering Sciences with Mention in Mathematical Modeling is the scientific training of academics of the highest level,able to carry out original research,the results of which constitute a significant contribution to knowledge in Mathematical Modeling and to the applications of mathematics in engineering .Its approximate duration is 4 years.The Program is taught by the Department of Mathematical Engineering and covers the following lines of research: partial derivative equations and nonlinear analysis,discrete mathematics,mathematical mechanics and inverse problems,optimization and equilibrium,probabilities and stochastic processes,dynamic systems. In addition,it is inserted in the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM,www.cmm.uchile.cl ) where applications of these research areas are developed in highly priority industrial sectors in Chile,such as mining,telecommunications,energy,forest engineering,genomics,cryptography,environment and transport.Graduates of the Program currently work in national and foreign universities and research centers of excellence.
