Program Overview

The purpose of this Program is to train graduates of the highest level,suitable to carry out original research autonomously within their discipline,the results of which constitute a substantial contribution to frontier knowledge in physics. Such research work should generate results that are publishable in mainstream indexed journals. Graduates will have a solid conceptual command of general physics,as well as a deep and up-to-date knowledge of their specialty area. They will have developed skills to clearly and precisely expose the knowledge acquired and the results of their research work,both verbally and in writing. They will have the power to work independently and in groups.His research areas include: condensed matter,nuclear physics,surface physics,magnetism,plasma physics,nonlinear physics and complex systems,statistical physics,fluids,atomic and molecular physics,relativity and astrophysics,nonlinear optics and matter outside of Balance.Graduate Doctors are fulfilling important functions in Chilean and international centers. The Program has a significant number of students,both national and foreign.The Postgraduate Program leading to the degree of Doctor of Science,Physical Mention is jointly developed by the Faculties of Sciences and Physical Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Chile.
