The study is focused on the preparation of researchers for research and professional activities focusing on special pedagogy in its individual areas: speech therapy, surdopaedia, ethopedics, somatopaedia, psychopaedia, ophthalmopaedia, specific learning disabilities, as well as current issues of contemporary special pedagogy in an international context. Professionals of a wide range of special pedagogy are trained in doctoral studies, able to develop the field in this new concept and are able to solve the current issues of life of disabled members of our society.

Content of doctoral studies focuses mostly on the increase of participation of people with disabilities in the society as well as the improvement of quality of their lives. Special attention is given to social aspects. The PhD Study Programme offers education in wide spectrum of special-education disciplines. Students of the programme are prepared to develop the scientific discipline of special education in the above mentioned new prospective and to solve up-to-date problems related to quality of life of people with disabilities.
