Bioethics is a modern discipline falling within its method among philosophical disciplines with a broad interdisciplinary focus. It focuses on the pressing problems of moral and normative contemporary medicine and its starting points are the questions of the relationship between the doctor and the patient, the dignity of the human being and the moral status of fetus and embryo, the system of equitable health care, the legal dimension of medical care, care for the handicapped, death and dying, research on human beings, possibilities of gene diagnosis and therapy, therapeutic cloning and stem cell treatment, and others.
