The Department of Arabic and Near Eastern Languages is steeped in the Arabic philological and literary tradition. Its faculty is also experienced in the use of contemporary western methods of teaching and approaches to language and literature. For this reason, the department is well-positioned to train future leaders in the field. The program s objective is to train students to become technically competent in their preferred field of specialization and play a principal role in enhancing education in the region.

A master s degree in Arabic from a recognized university, or an equivalent, three recommendation letters and an interview, proven unimpaired Arabic, >=97 on TOEFL(IBT) >=583 on TOEFL(PBT) or >=7.0 on IELTS, GRE scores.

Academicians or professional researchers in local, regional and international universities; in other Advanced centers of higher learning in their fields of specialization; or in Related cultural and inter-disciplinary studies
