Program Overview

The PhD in Law, Science and Technology is an integrated, interdisciplinary doctoral degree designed to face new challenges in the legal, ethical and technical domains posed by the information society and emerging technologies. The programme offers a joint PhD degree conferred by four partners and a double degree from the other partners. The PhD programme aims to fill a gap in an often fragmented European education system, and is inspired by similar programmes offered at Stanford and Harvard. The PhD degree offers researchers highly qualified training to enable them to go on to research centres, to lawyer firms specialising in intellectual property rights, privacy and e-commerce, to management positions in high-tech firms in robotics and nanotechnology, in ICT regulatory organisations, ethical committees, etc.
