University of Cambridge

Program Overview

The University offers full-time (three-year) and part-time (five-year) research PhD degrees. Students are required to undertake specialist and generic training at the Animal Health Trust (AHT) and are eligible to undertake further courses offered by the Graduate School of Life Sciences. Postgraduate studentships are normally offered through the successful funding of external peer-reviewed grant applications from funding bodies. These include the BBSRC DTP Programme, the BBSRC, the Horseracing Betting Levy Board, the Horse Trust and the Kennel Club Charitable Trust. Available studentships are advertised on the AHT website as they become available. The PhD includes a probationary period of one year, and final examination requires submission and viva voce of a thesis (max. 60,000 words).
