It offers an excellent opportunity to study a topic in-depth and at the same time to develop your intellectual, technical and managerial skills. At the PhD level you will be expected to make an original contribution to knowledge. Most students enrol first for the MPhil and transfer to the PhD when their work has sufficiently developed. However, it is possible to enrol directly onto the PhD course if you are appropriately qualified.
