Program Overview

The study of Evangelism and Missiology from within the PhD in Practical Theology at Boston University takes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of Christian witness, service, and mission in the world. The program affords a high degree of flexibility to tailor coursework and research around particular interests and can focus more on either the field of Evangelism or the field of Missiology or a combination of the two (which are already closely related in any case). Students can also choose to focus on particular geographical contexts. Previous students have focused on new church development, church renewal, media studies and the arts of communication, migration, theology of culture, the black church and youth, evangelistic organizations, popular culture, and urban ministry, just to name a few examples
