Documents required to apply for a student visa

Student visa

A student visa simply means a document issued to the applicants or students to visit and stay in foreign countries for educational purposes. It is a multiple-entry visa. Studying abroad refers to the facilities provided by foreign countries to international students so that they can study courses of their choice in a whole new environment.

Types of Visa

Visas are simply classified into two types –

  • For the duration of the program
  • On the type of program

One can seek student visa guidance depending on the type of visa they require. Although the Visa process is quite a lengthy one, if you have the required documents in place, it becomes convenient for you.

Documents required

1. Passport – The student must have a valid passport, the required validity of which depends on the specific country you are applying to. There should be at least 2 blank pages in order to stamp a visa.

2. Visa form – Every country has a form in which a visa needs to be applied. For example – F1 Visa form for the USA and the Study visa form for UK & Canada.

3. Language test scores – You need to provide your IELTS/GMAT score report. The minimum standard for an IELTS score is 6.5. The student should check beforehand if the university recognizes the test he/she is appearing for. The purpose of the test is to ensure the student is comfortable with the medium of communication.

Visa extension

To make sure your visa’s validity is still active, kindly check the expiry date on your student permit and apply for a renewal if the visa is expired. It would be safer to apply for visa renewal at least 30 days prior to the visa expiry date. The application can be submitted either through mail or online.
