The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission inside the United Kingdom (CSC) is responsible for dealing with Britain's commitment to the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan.
The Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship plan is a global program beneath which member governments provide scholarships and fellowships to citizens of different Commonwealth countries. The plan was established at the primary Commonwealth education conference in 1959 and is reviewed by education ministers at their triennial conferences – the sole scholarship scheme within the world to receive such high-level recognition.
The CSC supports around 750 awards annually. Awards are funded by the Department for International Development (for developing Commonwealth countries), and also the Department for Education (for developed Commonwealth countries), in conjunction with United Kingdom universities. The CSC additionally nominates United Kingdom citizens for scholarships to study in different Commonwealth countries beneath the CSFP.
