The Aker Scholarship was established in 2015 by the 'Anne Grete Eidsvig and Kjell Inge Røkke Charitable Foundation for Education’ in cooperation with Aker ASA.
Its aim is to give talented and ambitious young Norwegian students the opportunity to gain knowledge, inspiration, and experience by taking postgraduate degrees at the world's leading universities. Since last year it has offered scholarships at universities in the UK (Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial College), the USA (Caltech, MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Penn) and Singapore (National University of Singapore).
Eligibility Criteria/ Scholarship Guidelines
Candidates should apply directly to the Aker Scholarship in the year before that in which they wish to start their studies in Cambridge.
The program supports Norwegian top students so that they can learn from the best in the world, independent of their family or financial situation. Scholarships are awarded to students in all fields of study.
English Language Requirements: Applicants must have fluency in English.
How to Apply:
Applicants must include CVs, grades, recommendation letters, references, and other relevant documentation. If applicants apply for a Master’s scholarship, Applicants must submit an application letter on typically 2-3 pages describing themselves what applicants want to study and why, as well as justify why Applicants should receive a scholarship. If Applicants want support for a Ph.D., Applicants must also attach a project description to typically 4-10 pages. (We understand that such a Ph.D. project description can and will be in dialogue with the academic communities at the universities, but want to know what Applicants want to work with.)
