The Philip J. Cohen Scholars Program was created to provide financial support to deserving University of Virginia students who may have not otherwise received a scholarship based upon traditional need or merit requirements. Mr. Cohen believed that money should never prohibit a qualified student from attending a quality university. His generous gift will fund more than 40 scholarships each year. The determined of the scholarship is to fund each student recipient’s in-state tuition costs.
Eligibility Criteria/ Scholarship Guidelines
Student applicants must meet the following two basic criteria:
Must be formally admitted to University of Virginia and must be enrolled full time at the undergraduate level;
Incoming freshmen must have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or higher; returning students must have a 2.75 cumulative GPA or higher.
2.75 cumulative GPA each semester;
Successful completion of 12 credit hours each semester;
Consecutive enrollment in fall and spring terms;
The Office of Financial Aid's Satisfactory Academic Progress policy.
Value
This scholarship grants $6000 annually.
