You ll study aspects of child development, looking at how society understands the concept of family and the rights of children. You ll also look at the complex issue of safeguarding children, considering as a practitioner the current law and policy initiatives to understand how we can protect children. You ll get the opportunity to explore your career options early in your degree when you complete two professional work placements in your first and second year. Working in a variety of child and family settings, you ll make the link between theory and practice and understand the importance of professionalism in the workplace. We ll also work with you to develop your research skills, showing you how to use research for professional settings and policy making.

For the old GCSE system we require grade C or above and for the new GCSE grading system we will accept grade 4 or higher in both English Language and Maths, A Levels, BTECs and accredited Access courses, value highly the experience you illustrate in your personal statement, IELTS 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.
