BA Film and Video

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Purdue University West Lafayette

Program Overview

Film and Video is a professionally-oriented program with a strong liberal arts foundation. It brings together faculty and courses from Film and Video, Theatre, Art and Design, the School of Languages and Cultures and English.

The goal of this program is to help prepare students to meet the new challenges they will encounter as citizens and professionals in the information age, and to qualify them for immediate entry into professional careers or graduate programs in film and video. Students may choose from multiple concentrations, including Directing, Editing, Writing, Cinematography, Live Production and International Cinema; or mix and match courses to create a more customized experience. Students will learn how to analyze, integrate and apply the theories that form the basis of the film and video discipline, and to work in a practical, professional capacity. To maximize their experience, students are encouraged to actively seek real-world opportunities through internships, participate in capstone experiences or perhaps include a second major or minor. The students plan offers excellent flexibility to personalize their experience to their own personal, professional and artistic goals.
