Purdue University is a public research university located in West Lafayette, in the U.S State of Indiana and is the main campus of Purdue University system. The University was founded in 1869. The main campus of Purdue University is noted for its engineering, agriculture, and business administration programs, which consistently rank among the best in the country and the world.

The main campus offers more than 200 majors for undergraduates, over 70 masters and doctoral programs and professional degrees in Pharmacy and veterinary medicine. The Colleges and Schools at Purdue University have been dedicated to preparing students for a competitive job market. The different Colleges and Schools are College of Agriculture, College of Education, College of Engineering, Exploratory Studies, College of Health and Human Sciences, College of Liberal Arts, Krannert School of Management, College of Pharmacy, Purdue Polytechnic Institute, College of Science, College of Veterinary Medicine, Honors College and The Graduate School. The system-wide of over 18000 faculty members prepare over 75000 students for all walks of life and empowers the students to move the world forward.

Purdue has produced 23 astronauts, including Gus Grissom, America's second man in space and first to fly in NASA's Gemini program, Neil Armstrong  the first to walk on the moon, and Eugene Cerman the last astronaut to do so. Over one third of all of NASA's manned space missions have had at least one Purdue graduate as a crew member.
