Earth and Environmental Science prepare future scientists who are equipped to address complex issues including the mechanisms and effects of climate change; identifying the nature and source of contaminants in the environment; designing novel methods of removing contaminants from air, water and soil; understanding interactions between humans and the coastal zone; developing strategies for responsible land use and water resource management; and understanding the workings of our planet from the core to the top of the atmosphere.

The Dual Degree Dual Certification program is a 5-year program that leads to teacher certification in Earth Science (grades P-12), teacher certification in Teacher of Students with Disabilities, a baccalaureate degree and a master's degree. Interested students must apply to and be admitted to the Teacher Education Program as an undergraduate. Students must successfully complete the undergraduate portion of the program in order to be admitted to the Graduate School and complete the one-year master's portion of the program.
