Astronomy is the study of the properties and evolutionary processes of the universe. UA astronomers investigate the early universe, galaxies, quasars, and the formation and evolution of the stars and solar system. Ongoing areas of investigation at the university's Steward Observatory include extragalactic astronomy, galactic and stellar astronomy, solar system studies, and theoretical astrophysics.
