With a major in Communication Disorders, you can make a big difference in the life of someone challenged by speech or hearing problems. You might help a first-grader teased by classmates for her stutter. Or a grand-dad who wants to talk to his grandchildren over the telephone. Your degree will prepare you to work in Alabama s public schools as an assistant to a speech therapist or go on to graduate school to become a licensed speech therapist or audiologist yourself. Then choose to work in the public school system, in a hospital, or set up your own private practice. AUM s is one of the few Communication Disorders programs in the country where undergraduate students receive direct clinical experience with patients and they can do it in AUM s own Speech and Hearing Clinic.
