This course will focus on the development of individuals in interaction with the environment and the reciprocal influences between human behaviordevelopment and social systems families, groups, organizations, and communities Students will learn basic concepts of the social, behavioral, and biological sciences and theories that describe how social systems operate, as well as how these interactions support andor inhibit development Attention will be paid to the differential access to power and resources by members of various groups particularly how social structures participate in perpetuating inequality Finally, the course will focus on the role of social and economic justice
