The National Merit Scholarship is given to the students by Vanderbilt University who are enrolled and admitted to the university and are named National Merit Finalists. Each year, Vanderbilt awards approximately 300 major merit-based scholarships to freshman applicants who demonstrate exceptional accomplishment and intellectual promise. These students represent the top 1–2 percent of all freshman applicants to Vanderbilt.
Eligibility Criteria/ Scholarship Guidelines
To be considered for the scholarship, the student must choose Vanderbilt University as their first choice in the National Merit Corporation form.
The student must enroll as an entering freshman to receive the scholarship and should be a permanent resident or citizen of the United States.
It is mandatory for the student to take PSAT or NMSQT during the high school's program, no later than grade 9 through 12.
Value
An amount of USD 5000 per year is available for students who do not receive an additional merit scholarship from the university. Additional USD 2000 is given to students who also receive the merit scholarship from the university.
