The primary goal of this scholarship program is to promote democratic, economic and social development through supporting know-how and transfer of knowledge to advanced students within areas in which Sweden is at the forefront of academic research.
Eligibility Criteria /Scholarship Guidelines
The scholarships are intended for guest students belonging to the above-mentioned target group for full-time temporary studies in Sweden. There is no age limit for scholarship holders.
One is eligible for this scholarship if the following requirements are met :
Applicants have not already lived in Sweden for two years or more when the scholarship period is due to begin.
Applicants must not have a Swedish permanent residence permit or a work permit.
Applicants must not have previously been awarded a scholarship from the SI for studies at master’s level or research at a Swedish university.
Students who have attended a Swedish Institute summer course in the Swedish language or the Swedish Institute Summer University are welcome to apply.
Value
The scholarship is a monthly allowance of SEK 8,000 and is only awarded for programs starting in the autumn semester 2010. The scholarships are generally granted for a academic year, i.e. for two semesters at a time, but may be extended provided the recipient’s study results are satisfactory. Scholarship holders from ODA countries will also receive travel support. The travel grant is given as a lump sum and is given only once. Macedonia (FYROM), Kosovo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Moldova, Serbia, Albania Turkey and receive SEK 5,000. Citizens from the remaining prioritized ODA countries will receive SEK 10,000. Scholarship holders are also insured by the Swedish State Group Insurance against illness and accident during the scholarship period.
