The Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarships started in year 2007 with a mission to strengthen and unite the university’s already existing full tuition fee scholarships by Sartain Lanier Family Foundation of Atlanta. The scholarship commemorates the vision of Commodore Cornelius, the founder of Vanderbilt University. The scholarship recipients are expected to contribute to the vision of Commodore Cornelius to bring the intellect and community leadership to the campus and form relationships and bring together people from all across the world.
Eligibility Criteria/ Scholarship Guidelines
To be considered for the Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship, the applicant must apply separately after submitting their admission application.
For students studying Music, the audition scores also form a basis for the decision to be considered for the scholarship.
The applicants are evaluated on the basis of past academic achievement, intellectual capability, leadership acumen, and contribution in activities other than the classroom. The scholarship application is evaluated along with the admission application.
Applicants without English as their first language have to submit TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE test results for English proficiency. Minimum recommended scores are a 100 on the internet-based TOEFL, a 230 on the computer-based TOEFL, a 7.0 on the IELTS, and a 70 on the PTE Academic.
The scholarship also offers an opportunity to attend specific programs designed for talented students.
Value
This Scholarship covers Full tuition fee support and a one-time summer stipend. Additional financial aid may be available for students who are able to demonstrate that their need exceeds tuition fee amount.
