National Assessment Services have laid out a survey that showed a sharp dip in the performance of students across all areas and categories. The survey was conducted on November 21 amongst one lakh schools in 720 districts. Indians witnessed one of the longest closures of schools during the pandemic. Teachers suffered a lot of pedagogical challenges. This resulted in an alarming degradation of the education of children. The average score of class 5 students in mathematics was below the national average. Children are suffering in reading, writing and even simple mathematics. Now the challenge is to cope up with the lost time and syllabus and keep up with the current syllabus as well.
