A historic agreement has been signed between Australia and India called Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA). This agreement is likely to come into effect from 29th December, 2022. Under the agreement, Indian students who have gone to Australia for higher studies will be able to stay there for work purposes for a longer period of time now. Students who have completed their diploma can live in Australia post their education for 18 months.
Students who have completed their bachelor's degree are eligible to live for two years. Students who have completed their master's degree have an eligibility to live for three years after the completion of their degree. Doctoral students can live for four years after the completion of their degree. Also there is good news for students who are pursuing a degree in the STEM fields. The students can live in Australia for three years now after the completion of their degree. Earlier the time for which students could live in Australia after completing their higher education used to be much less. Now the increased time period will allow them to look for great jobs that can help them in getting a permanent residence in Australia.
