Over 25.5 lakhs students have registered for the minority scholarship that has been introduced by the government. The government has recently scrutinised all the applications and it was found out that more than 26.5% of the total applications were bogus. The government conducts a proper Aadhaar card biometric verification and other in detail verification of documents. 18.8 lakhs students have registered for the scholarship for the first time whereas 6.2 lakhs students have registered for the scholarship renewal.
Under the renewal category, 30% of the scholarships have been found to be fake. The overall number of fake applications stands at 26.5%. Students who are able to pass the whole verification process, laid down by nodal officers, will be the only ones eligible for the scholarship.
