5 changes announced by CBSE in 2023

posted on: December 28, 2023

2023 was a very important year for education in India. A lot of new strategies have been implemented by the central government to align the education system of the country with the contemporary global education scenario. CBSE has also announced a number of changes in 2023. Let's have a look at all these changes that have been announced in the year so far.

  1. CBSE announced that from 2024 onwards, the board will not grant any division, distinction for percentage to class 10th and 12th students. The board will not calculate the percentage of students on the basis of their marks and announce toppers anymore.
  2. From now on CBSE will include more competency based questions rather than theory questions in the board exams. This will reduce the emphasis on short and long answers that have to be written in the answer sheet.
  3. The criteria about the theory part for board exams has been made more precise. All the CBSE affiliated schools have to follow these guidelines properly.
  4. For class 10th practicals, 50% of the questions asked must be in MCQ form or case studies et cetera. The same rule applies to class 12th board practical's where 40% of the questions asked must be either MCQs or key studies.
  5. The Ministry of Education might also consider organising board exams twice a year. No final decision has been made on the same as of now.

All of these suggestions have been made by CBSE in 2023. Some of them have been already implemented whereas the others might take some time. None of these changes are permanent and may change with time.
