Can international students get an internship in the White House?

posted on: August 16, 2022

White House is one of the most influential and powerful government buildings in the whole world. Like any other government administrative building, the White House also offers internship opportunities to young students. If you are a student who wants to pursue litigation and law-related professions in the future, doing an internship in the White House will be really advantageous for both your career as well as your personal demeanor development. It is very obvious that students who are natural US citizens by birth can apply for this internship. There is no such rule that prohibits international students from applying for an internship in the White House. The eligibility criteria for applying is that the student needs to be at least 18 years old. He or she must be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate program. The university or school that the student has graduated from must be an internationally accredited and recognized one. Selected students get the opportunity to work in 24 different departments of the White House serving the Biden-Harris government. Before your final selection, your security eligibility is also determined through the following parameters-

  • An applicant’s connection to foreign governments
  • Criminal history
  • Financial debts
  • Tax compliance
  • Prior drug use (including marijuana, regardless of whether the marijuana use was permitted under state law)
