Canada is planning to put a restriction on the number of international students that will be able to study in the country from 2024 onwards. A substantial step towards that direction has been taken by the government already. The minimum financial requirement has been doubled for international students. It is expected that Canada might also introduce a lot of other stringent laws related to international students who want to study in Canada. All of this will be done to control the high rate of immigration in the country that is leading to unavailability of part-time jobs and accommodation for the already existing international students and citizens of the country.
The current unemployment rate in Canada is 5.8% which is because of the high rate of inflation and job cuts in the country. By controlling the number of people who enter the country every year, the government wants to provide better opportunities to the already existing people in the country.
