In recent times, the total cost of accommodation and living in Canada has increased a lot. This has happened because of the rising number of students that go to Canada every year for higher education. There has been a shortage of accommodation for international students due to which the prices for accommodation have increased a lot in the past years. In 2022, there were more than 800,000 international students with active visas in Canada. In 2012, there were only 275,000 students in Canada with active visas.
Now the government of Canada is considering capping the total number of student visas given to international immigrants every year. This might help the situation and lower the rent charges in Canada.
