In the year 2022, around 550,000 international students went to Canada to pursue higher education. At present there are more than 800,000 study permit holders in Canada. This is 190,000 more than the previous year. There has been an exponential growth in the number of international students going to Canada for higher education. Initially Canada was having a hard time trying to cope up with the overwhelming number of applications. But the process got back to normal in a span of two months. Around 41% of the students that went in 2022 are Indians. followed by India, China was the second largest contributor.
The other major countries include the Philippines, France, Nigeria and Korea. Canada has always been an attractive study abroad destination. But after the pandemic, students have been actively choosing Canada over other countries. There are many reasons to choose Canada over other famous study abroad destinations. This includes affordable study, scholarships, low cost of accommodation and good job opportunities.
