Dh15 million was given to the American University of Sharjah in honour of UAE’s first women teacher

Dh15 million have been given to the AUS by the heirs of the late Sheikh Saoud bin Khalid in honour of UAE’s first women teacher. Sheikha Nama Majid Al Qassami Endowed Chair will look after training and supporting education and research programmes and will also undertake future strengthening departments. Nama Majid is considered a pioneer in the education field in the UAE. She was the first woman to complete her high school in the UAE in 1960 after which she became a teacher. The chair will be housed in AUS and will be held by Dr Nidhal Guessoum. Students will have ample benefits like skill development, knowledge, understanding of the professional workplace etc.
