Well according to experts there is no correct or precise number regarding the number of colleges that you should apply for during your application process. In the USA alone, there are more than 4000 educational institutes. Obviously it is not practical to apply for all the educational institutes. You have to do selection on the basis of what you want to study and what other facilities you are looking for in a College. It is advised that on an average student must apply in around 4 to 15 colleges during their application process. The more colleges you apply in, the more money you end up spending on your applications. This is why applying in a lot of colleges is not a budget friendly option. The colleges that have free applications are good choices and you can apply there without being hesitant. But the colleges that have a paid application must be researched about carefully to understand if they fit your standards and expectations or not.
