Studies have found that most of the habits you follow religiously in your adulthood are a consequence of your childhood patterns. If you were a reader in childhood, chances are likely that you will become an avid book enthusiast once you are an adult. So it's very important for parents to make sure that a good set of habits are imparted in kids while growing up. But it is obvious that not all children are easy to convince. They have their tantrums and often run away from studies. You can start by just 15 minutes a day and then increase the time gradually. Start with easy comprehensions irrespective of their reading capacity. Try to activate all the senses while making them read. For example if you child is reading a passage make them touch or smell things similar to what they are reading about. If the story is about a flower then bring a flower. Tell them to form mental images of whatever they are reading. This increases the interest of the kids. These methods with persistence are the key to becoming a good reader.
