Studying abroad can be a nerve-wracking experience for a lot of students. It's already very stressful to leave your family and settle in a completely different environment while managing everything on your own. A lot of students may experience anxiety during this situation which can make everything even worse. Having anxiety issues is very disadvantageous during studying abroad as things may start appearing even bigger of a deal than they actually are. As a student living alone and far from home, it is important to maintain your calm and be as emotionally strong as you can. Always choose the program of your choice that you are interested in and passionate about. Having a deep understanding of your program and whatever you are studying provides you with a sense of contentment and keeps you away from any anxious thoughts. Make sure that you stay in touch with all your close ones including friends and family. The world is now closer than ever through virtual modes of communication where you can video call and see your close ones right in front of you who are sitting thousands of miles away. On the days when you feel too overwhelmed with your emotions try to write them down in a journal. Journalling is a very good habit that helps in venting out suppressed emotions and thoughts that have been bottled up in you for a long period of time. If things get too messed up make sure you consult a therapist as soon as you can because prioritizing your mental health is your biggest responsibility for yourself.
