Twice exceptional children are those children who are academically gifted and at the same time experience some learning difference or disability. Twice exceptional students have dynamic qualities. You may come across a student suffering from ADHD or autism who performs exceptionally well in maths. One of the common challenges is spotting these children. They are present around us and since they have special needs it is important to identify them as early as possible. It might be difficult to identify them as they may come across differently abled as well gifted at the same time. The problem is sometimes only one area identification is made. When a child is diagnosed a written detailed education plan is formed for them by the school and they are taught accordingly. Schools are bound under Individualised Education Program legally to offer this help to special students. These children are sometimes not very expressive and hence it is important for the caregiver to remember that they may not be able to express everything that they want to.
