The union education minister of India, Mr Dharmendra Pradhan has said that the Centre has made suggestions to IITs and IIMs to become multidisciplinary in the coming years. Currently the IITs and IIMs only offer courses in their respective disciplines. This will also be in alignment with the new education policy that has been introduced by the government of India. By offering disciplines in various fields, the premium institutes of the country will give opportunity to multiple students. Currently, there are only selected institutes in the country that our brand among the top global institutions list. Most of the top institutions are only limited to providing courses in the field of science, technology, medicine and management. By becoming multi-disciplinary students from various other disciplines like humanities and social studies will also get to be a part of these colleges and universities.
