Recently, a joint meeting was held between all the major IITs in the union cabinet. The cabinet has suggested that the Joint Entrance Exam which consists of two parts that are mains and advance must be replaced by a common entrance exam like CUET. This proposal has been rejected by IITs as they believe that JEE has been the conventional way of giving admissions to engineering aspirants for a very long period of time. Replacing it with a common entrance exam will not be beneficial at all. The union government has suggested that this way the pressure of giving multiple entrance exams will decrease and students can focus just on one exam. On the other hand, IITs feel that multiple entrance exams give a variety of opportunities to engineering aspirants.
